About S-Express

Established in 2002, S-Express is Southeast Asia’s premier short film exchange, fostering regional cinema history through curated annual screenings and vital cross-border collaborations between filmmakers and cultural festivals.
The S-Express Short Film Program Exchange was initiated in 2002 by Yuni Hadi (Singapore), Amir Muhammad (Malaysia), and Chalida Uabumrungjit (Thailand). It is an annual program that showcases curated short film exchanges across Southeast Asia on a regional scale.

S-Express remains the only platform dedicated to exchanging short film programs across Southeast Asian countries. Each annual edition carries unique significance for participating nations and has become an essential part of the region’s short film history and development.

Since its inception, S-Express has grown into one of the most important movements supporting short film production in Southeast Asia, building an increasingly strong and meaningful network across borders.
